Dial has no account, no server, and no analytics. Nothing you track leaves your Mac. That is not a policy decision that could be reversed in an update. It is how the app is built. There is nowhere for your data to go.

What Dial stores, and where

Everything the app knows is one JSON file in its own container on your Mac:

• Your projects, their colours, icons, goals and limits.
• Your tracked sessions: a start, an end, a project and your note.
• Passive context from the last seven days, if you connected any of it. Older entries are deleted automatically.
• Your settings.

Settings → What Dial can see prints the exact path and has a button that opens it in the Finder. You can read it, back it up, copy it to another Mac, or delete it. Deleting it deletes everything.

What Dial can see, and only if you ask

Every source below is off until you switch it on, each one separately, and switching it off stops it immediately. None of them can start a timer or file an entry. They draw alongside your day and you decide what counts.

• Calendar. Event titles and times from Calendar.app, or from an iCal feed URL you paste in.
• Calls. Window titles that look like a call in progress, and the address of an active meeting tab in Chrome or Safari. Matched against a fixed list of patterns.
• Tools. Which of a fixed list of work applications is the frontmost window, by name, and whether Claude Code or Codex is running. Never what is inside them.
• Now playing. The track title in Spotify or Apple Music while it is playing.

What Dial never sees

• Your screen, your keystrokes or your clipboard.
• The websites you visit, or any application outside the short list above.
• Your files, beyond the one it writes itself.
• Your name, your email, or any identifier for you or your Mac.

Network

Dial makes exactly three kinds of network request, and no others:

• Fetching an iCal calendar URL, if you entered one. Only that URL, only to read.
• Checking for a new version, in the version downloaded from this site. The App Store version does not do this; the App Store does. Neither sends anything about you.
• A payment, once, if you buy a licence. It is handled by our payment provider on their own page; Dial never sees your card, and the licence it receives back is a signed file that is checked on your Mac without contacting anyone.

Children

Dial is a productivity tool for general audiences. It collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Changes

If this ever changes, the date at the top changes with it and the change is described in the release notes. An update that started sending your data somewhere would be a different application, and it would say so.
