Dial for macOS
Write to support@example.com. Before you do, open Dial → Settings → Dial and press Copy details, then paste that into the email. It is your macOS version, which build you have and which permissions are granted. No projects, no times, nothing personal. It usually turns four emails into one.
Common questions
Calls or tools are not being detected
Reading another application's window titles needs the Accessibility permission, which macOS only grants in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility. Dial shows a link straight to it on the card when the permission is missing. The App Store version cannot ask for it at all, because macOS does not allow a sandboxed app to have it, so call detection is absent there rather than broken. Tool detection works in both versions.
Calendar events are not appearing
The first time you connect Calendar, macOS asks whether Dial may control it. If that was declined, macOS will not ask again; you turn it back on in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation. If your calendar does not live in Calendar.app, use the iCal URL field instead: every provider offers a private feed URL, and Dial only ever reads it.
Where is my data, and how do I move it to a new Mac?
One JSON file. Settings → What Dial can see prints the exact path and opens it in the Finder. Copy that file to the same place on the other Mac while Dial is not running, and everything is there: projects, sessions, settings. There is no sync, no account, and nothing to log in to.
How do I get my hours out?
Settings → Share your time. A PDF for a client, where you pick the range and which projects, then decide whether the session-by-session detail and your own notes are included. Or the whole thing as CSV for a spreadsheet. Both are generated on your Mac and saved wherever you choose.
I bought a licence and it is not activated
The licence arrives by email as a key you paste into Settings → Dial Pro. It is checked on your Mac, offline, so it keeps working with no internet and on a machine that never talks to us again. If the email did not arrive, check spam and then write to us with the address you paid with, and we can resend it.
Can I use it on more than one Mac?
Yes. A licence is yours, not a machine's. Paste the same key into Dial on every Mac you use.
The clock kept running while I was away
Settings → Dial → "Ask about time away". After that long with no input anywhere on the Mac, coming back is met with a question rather than a decision: keep the time or subtract it. Dial never stops your clock on its own, because a tracker that guesses is wrong exactly as often as its guess.
